STRAPPING YOUNG LAD: New Tour Report Posted Online

October 30, 2005

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD drummer Gene Hoglan has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"Here we are at Pop's in Sauget, Illinois. The town of Sauget is basically a giant parking lot, housing Pop's Niteclub, and 4 strip bars. Legend has it that Pop owns Sauget, strip bars included, and is not only the Mayor, but also the sheriff. Good gig if ya can get it...

"So, last nights' gig was a good solid 6 for us. And of course, a perfect 10 for all in attendance-heehee! We roughed our way through it, and also played 'Zen' as a band for the FIRST time. Ever. We've never even rehearsed it as a full unit. Ever. Pulled it off pretty damn mightily, or so I say... Dev [Devin Townsend, guitar/vocals] got his brand new Mesa Boogie rig delivered to him, and he was all smiley aboot it.

"Met a buncha cool folks, and ate some crappy grub. Everybody else dug it, but they're Canadian. They gave up their tastebuds for...buds, I guess.

"Napped my way through DARKANE's set, unfortunately, but they seemed to enjoy it. Met the IT DIES TODAY gents. They seem to be a nice group o' swoopy-do's. FEAR FACTORY rocked it oot, and let me say, Raymond [Herrera] is really a stormin' drummer. Some of the most solid feet in the biz...this tour will be a drummer-fest, no doobt.

"Damn, second day of doing this, and I'm already running oot of things to say. Fuck, I suck at this...

"Y'all might be hearing from Mr. Jed [Simon, guitar] sooner than ya think."

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD are continuing to tour in support of their genre-defying breakthrough album, "Alien", which was released earlier in the year via Century Media Records. A European run with MESHUGGAH will follow later in the year.
